Ethical Review Self Check Faculty of Humanities (VU)

In order to determine if your research projects needs to be reviewed by the Research Ethics Review Committee (ETCO) of the Faculty of Humanities, please answer the following questions.

Please contact a Medical Research Ethics Committee (METC) to request a non-WMO statement before submitting your project to the ETCO.

Please send an email accompanied by your approval letter, research proposal, and informed consent form (if applicable) to etco.fgw@vu.nl. 
A check will be conducted to determine whether your research project needs to be fully reviewed by the ETCO.
Please contact the Faculty Privacy Champion for support (data.fgw@vu.nl).

You have to submit your research to the Research Ethics Review Committee (ETCO)

You have to submit your research to a Medical Research Ethics Committee (METC).

This must also be answered with yes if a healthcare institution is involved in the research in one of the following ways: (1) one or more of the healthcare institution’s staff members are involved in the research as a client or provider/party carrying out the study, (2) the research is conducted within the walls of the institution and, given the nature of the research, would normally not be conducted outside the walls of the institution, or (3) patients/clients of the institution participate in the research study (in the capacity of medical treatment).
